Today I’m doing the Little Women book tag! This is a fun tag that was created by This Story Ain’t Over, and about which I learned through Ryan Elizabeth. Thanks, girls! I love Little Women and I love tags, so this seems serendipitous. ^_^

Jo March—

What’s a book that you wished you’d written because it’s just that good?

I’ll go with The Book of Boy by Catherine Gilbert Murdock. It’s an amazingly unique medieval adventure about a misfit boy and his mysterious pilgrim companion. Not only did I really like everything about the story, but Murdock’s writing style also really appealed to me and, I think, is similar to my own writing style. I would have loved to have come up with the idea for this one-of-a-kind book. (But I also think Murdock did a fantastic job!)

What’s a book whose heroine whose journey is far more inspiring than her romantic relationships?

This is a difficult question for me because I like romantic relationships. XD But the journey and character arc of Josie in Dearest Josephine by Catherine George was really well done. Because the book is an epistolary novel, I wasn’t expecting to connect with the characters as much as I usually do, but I was dead wrong. It was more than obvious that George knew her characters inside and out, and she did an excellent job writing them all—especially Josie.

What’s a book with a supporting character/cast that makes the book for you?

I’d have to say the entire Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Luna, Draco, the Weasleys, Lupin, Dumbledore, Snape, Hagrid—all the supporting characters are so great. Except Dobby. I could do without Dobby. XD

What’s a book with a character whose dreams/aspirations are very different from your own?

Matthias from Redwall by Brian Jacques, or any character who’s desperate to be a warrior or soldier. As romantic as the notion sounds in print, I would almost sooner do anything else than join the military. I’m just not cut out—physically or emotionally—for that sort of thing. XD

Beth March—

What’s a book with a character death that devastated you?

There’s a dude in Romanov by Nadine Brandes who dies unexpectedly and tragically, and that was kind of depressing. I don’t remember his name, though. Does that still count? XD

Who’s a genuinely good character who you think deserves the best?

O l i v e r from Dearest Josephine. He might be my new favorite fictional love interest, honestly. He just sounded…amazing. I’m so jealous of Josie. XD

Amy March—

What’s a book with a character you love but who is generally disliked or misunderstood?

Kyle from The Green Ember series by S. D. Smith. Of course, I usually do harbor sympathy for the “depressed and misunderstood” characters, so that’s nothing new.

What’s a book with a ship that you love but others generally dislike?

Gonna go back to Harry Potter here and say Snape/Lily (although actually I think that ship has a decent-sized fanbase). I despise James and genuinely wish Lily would’ve seen him for the pig he was, dumped him, and married Snape instead. (Wait… Does that mean James would’ve been the one being mean to Harry throughout his childhood instead? 0_0)
